Heritage Lottery Fund Grants for Places of Worship

HLF is changing the way it funds places of worship.  Funding for places of worship will be streamlined into their open programmes and they will stop accepting applications to the Grants for Places of Worship programme in the summer of 2017.  In 2017-18, HLF has committed to a targeted spend of at least £20 million on repair projects in places of worship across the UK.

There will be three batches of Grants for Places of Worship decision-making in 2017/18, with the last application deadline (for grants of between £10,000 and £250,000) on 14 August 2017 (for a decision in November/December 2017).  Further information and application details can be found at: https://www.hlf.org.uk/looking-funding/our-grant-programmes/grants-places-worship-england.

After this, two existing grant schemes run by HLF will continue to provide grants for the repair of building fabric for places of worship, along with other heritage and community projects, through the Our Heritage (between £10,000 and £100,000) and Heritage Grants (over £100,000) programmes.

Guidance notes and applicaton forms for GPOW, for Our Heritage, and for Heritage Grants are all on the HLF website at: https://www.hlf.org.uk/looking-funding/our-grant-programmes.

Sara Crofts, HLF Head of Historic Environment, has posted an explanation of the changes in 'A new approach to supporting places of worship'.
