Firstly let me extend a warm welcome from the East of England Regional Team of the Learning Network.
Training & Development
This region covers the two Methodist districts of East Anglia and Beds, Essex and Herts - a total area of 7,595 square miles and more than 6 million people.
Within the regional team we have myself, Dave Friswell (pictured left), Learning and Development Coordinator, John Banks, full-time Learning and Development Officer and Anne Howlett-Foster, half-time Learning and Development Officer.
Although we are spread across the counties we are all available to work across the whole of the region.
Ann leads on varying aspects of church and community development including intergenerational ministry, oversight of the One Programme Participants, 3Generate and a wide range of training including safeguarding and conflict resolution.
Ann is part of the team helping to develop and embed the Advanced Module Safeguarding training into the two districts. She will also be recruiting and mentoring volunteer Advanced Module trainers.
We each bring our own skills and experiences to the roles.
John is taking the lead on vocations, ordained ministry, W:L&P mentor training, portfolio moderation.
My focus includes working with circuits and churches to assist them develop their plans for mission, evangelism and growth, supporting lay and ordained pioneer ministry, induction and development for ministers from other churches and conferences, and working at district level on committees such as DPC and grants meetings.
Alongside these areas of work we are available for leading circuit steward training, regional study days and workshops on specific issues such as bullying and internal conflict. We have access to a wide range of resources and other specialists within the Connexional Team, so please do get in touch if there is something else you feel we may be able to assist with.
Dates and venues for training and events are usually publicised on the ‘Eventbrite’ website as well as on the district calendar. Booking via Eventbrite is easy and the sessions are usually free unless they are residential or we need to cover the costs such as of external speakers.
Our contact details
Please do get in touch with us – contact details are below. To help coordinate the work across the region we ask that new enquiries come initially to me. I will then discern which of us will work with you depending on location, workload, specialist skills etc. Once the work is allocated communication is then directly with the lead team member.
